About American Acrylic Works

American Acrylic Works has been casting acrylic in Pittsgrove, New Jersey since 1954.

What we sell

American Acrylic Works (AAW) sells certified clear cast acrylic tubes and rods — direct from the manufacturer. We cast one thing exceptionally well: clear cast acrylic. It is a single material — clear cell-cast polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) — in two shapes:

  • Tubes — 1.500″ to 14.000″ outside diameter, wall thicknesses from 0.125″ to 0.500″
  • Rods — 0.250″ to 6.000″ diameter

Standard stock lengths depend on the size: tubes and rods over 3″ in diameter run 60 inches, rods over 2″ up to 3″ run 72 inches, and rods 2″ and under run 96 inches. Each product page shows the limit for that size. In-stock sizes ship in 1–2 business days. Made-to-order sizes ship in 5–7 business days.

The material

All of our acrylic is clear and cell-cast — poured into molds and cured slowly, not extruded through a die. Cast acrylic has superior optical clarity (92% light transmission), better chemical resistance, and higher thermal stability than extruded material. It machines cleanly, polishes to a glass-like finish, and won't craze or yellow under UV exposure.

Every piece is certified to ASTM D5436-20 Type UVA, Finish 1, and is food-contact compliant to CFR 21 177.1010. Every order ships with a certificate referencing the specific cast batch your material came from, plus traceability to the source monomer it was poured from. See our credentials page for full certification details.

What ships with your order

Every AAW order includes a Material Cert PDF, generated at shipment and emailed with your tracking. Each cert lists the cast batch reference, ASTM D5436-20 conformance, CFR 21 177.1010 food-contact compliance, source monomer identification, monomer chemistry specs, and a made-in-USA declaration. The mill

We have been cell-casting acrylic in Pittsgrove, New Jersey since 1954, from Mitsubishi M-503 monomer (formerly Lucite) — the same premium optical-grade methyl methacrylate that has defined optical acrylic since WWII. Our customers include medical device manufacturers, museum fabricators, lighting OEMs, and precision machining shops — industries where optical quality, dimensional consistency, and traceable certification are requirements.

When you buy from AAW, you're buying from the mill — not through a distributor. Your material is traceable to its specific cast batch, and you can talk directly to the people who make it.

Who buys from us
